Secure Document Destruction FAQs

How experienced are First Mile with Secure Document Shredding?

First Mile is one of the leading confidential shredding companies in the UK. At First Mile we offer flexible and reliable removals across all our secure shredding, confidential paper and data disposal, recycling and IT asset disposal services.

With our experience in the waste management industry, we can ensure that all of your confidential data is safely disposed of.

Our services ensure confidential data and Confidential Paper Recycling is secure throughout the full document shredding service from the waste collection to disposal.

Are there any laws governing shredded waste?

It all depends on the type of paper waste, but if the documents contain sensitive information, businesses must conform to some laws. One of these is the Duty of Care legislation, governed by the 2011 Waste Regulations.

What happens to the documents after they are shredded?

Much like normal paper, these will make their way to one of our hand-selected partners, where they will be treated with water and chemicals, separated and reformed into fresh sheets of recycled paper before heading back into the world!

Who needs Secure Document Destruction?

While any business may require secure document destruction at some point, offices are likely to need it more than most.

For example, a company dealing with administrative work will generate more confidential paper waste compared to a high-street retailer. Moreover, offices are more likely to handle highly sensitive information that must be destroyed securely to ensure complete privacy.

What documents are considered confidential?

In short, these are documents that your business would classify as ‘for-your-eyes-only’ and contain classified or personal information. These could be expense reports, receipts or even CVs from a recent interview process.

First Mile specialises in helping businesses dispose of their sensitive personal information with ease during the confidential shredding process, with no worry that this information could be later retrieved.
